I'm relieved it didn't happen a day sooner
This was a passion project that took 18 years to get made. I'm relieved it didn't happen a day sooner. Good luck and stick with it.

I like this quote from Katie Dippold, creator of recent sixteen Emmy winner Widow's Bay. It's a good reminder that things happen in their own time. What I can do is make stuff and keep my side of the relationship's street clean, that's what I have control over. People get to decide if they like what I make and me as a person and one doesn't have any bearing on the other. The journey has to be the reward.
I'm currently in two writing class that have me back in gap between where I want to be and where I am. I realized that I've never really written a setup punch line joke before and despite the fact that I have written funny things, that's a different skill that just being funny. So, I'm back the stage of my comedy journey where streching myself means experiencing failure and ego death. I need to remind myself that the point isn't winning the class, it's learning and that's what that discomfort I'm feeling is. I need to chase that.
A concern I have about this journey is how ripe it is for self pity. In sobriety, it's so easy for me to get into a cycle where I'm again the victim of circumstances both real and imagined. I can find myself on the merry-go-round of resentments and isolations before I even realize I bought a ticket. Gratitude is a much better ride.
