On not being anonymous
This is a big topic. I am in open violation of A.A.’s 11th Tradition. “Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.”
For me, it's important to recover out loud. I have a medical condition, a disease. I am an alcoholic. That said, I think it's good to respect the AA traditions. I don't currently feel qualified to fully navigate this issue let alone share my full and evolving thoughts on it, but right now, this sums it up for me.
On AI Usage
Everything you read is 100% my words. I decided to put them where I put them. I decided their order. I suffer from a degenerative eye issue called keratoconus, a progressive warping of my cornea that makes reading difficult. I use AI to proof read as a kind of copy editor. I know for some any AI use is a bridge too far and that this may cost me readers, but I want to be transparent. I promise that if it ever occurs that I can pay my own copy editor that I will gladly do so. but for now I use an AI tool to catch issues with spelling and grammar. I take care to not allow that tool to create text, but only correct what I have already written.
